Nothing is on the bench today. No batch is fermenting, and rather than animate a clock over a ferment that finished months ago, this page says so.

Not fermenting, but not finished.
A batch that has stopped bubbling is not done. It sits on the floor going clear, sometimes for a year, and that stretch is part of the record too.
The diary does not yet record which batches are still resting, so nothing is listed here. Guessing from an empty cell is what once published a batch that had been poured away as a finished one. 5 ROWS ARE UNACCOUNTED FOR.
Where these numbers come from.
Not from a content management system. From the same spreadsheet the hydrometer readings get typed into, once a day, automatically.
Every figure on this page comes out of the fermentation diary — start date, starting gravity, and any reading taken since. If it is not written down, it does not appear here.
Day counts are worked out in your browser from the start date, not baked in when the page was built. A page built last month would otherwise be quietly wrong today.
An empty bench is not a broken page. Fermentation runs on its own calendar, and most of that calendar is waiting. When something goes on, its numbers are here the next morning.
